Happy Birthday, Fuji-san!

Dearest Fuji-san (富士山), on August 15th you probably didn’t realize it, but it’s been 5 years since you arrived on this earth.
I’m sure you didn’t notice it was your birthday — these celebrations are a human invention. So no cake with candles, no song, and no special food, because we know you’ve already found your favorite brand and you don’t like changes in your diet.
But I just want to thank you for joining us, arriving as if it were something life itself had planned.
Since you came, everything here has changed. You have an irreplaceable place in the rhythm of our days, and seeing you every morning when we wake is an incredible joy we are deeply grateful for.
It’s true, you play less than you used to, which is a little sad, because we loved watching our little ball of fur go wild over a single dead leaf. But just like humans, cats mellow with time… And this calm is now a blessing, because without trying, you teach us to listen and to embrace silence.
So, on this birthday that exists only for us, we wish you to stay by our side for as long as possible.
